About/Experience

Alayne Lewis founded La Pincoya Translations in 2011 and she has been working professionally with Spanish and English since 2005. Her native tongue is English. She has lived, studied, and worked as an instructor of English as a Second Language (ESL) in Chilean Patagonia, Peru, Honduras, Thailand, Spain, and the United States. These years of teaching English have ensured that she is not only a native English speaker, but she is also an expert in English grammar, syntax, composition, and spelling. Apart from living and studying in numerous Latin American countries, she also possesses a BA with a concentration in Spanish and Italian from Sarah Lawrence College and an MA in Spanish Linguistics from San Diego State University, where she was honored as outstanding graduate. She is currently pursuing a professional certification in Spanish/English translation from the University of California, San Diego Extension, which she will complete in March of 2013. Language and culture are truly Alayne's passions. She is not a translator by trade; she is a translator by nature, lifestyle, and profession, and she thrives on making sure her clients have a superior experience working with her and receive nothing but the highest quality translations available. She is a member of the American Translators Association (ATA).

La Pincoya is a mythical mermaid from the Chilean island of Chiloe that symbolizes abundance from the sea. Just as translators strive to build bridges of communication between diverse countries, cultures, and people, folklore helps us to understand our own culture as well as other global cultures more profoundly. La Pincoya has brought abundance and prosperity to millions of Chileans spanning generations; La Pincoya Translations is at your service to help you bridge your communication gaps, better understand the other cultures that influence your work, and help bring prosperity and abundance to your business and life.
